I got a copy of the game! Here I was, thinking I was going to have to wait upwards of a year or two to be able to experience this phenomenon, when I stumbled across a deal on ebay that was too good to pass up. If any of you are familiar with the rabid fan base that this game (and its sold-out status) has attained, you would have already heard of the ludicrous prices being tossed around on ebay.  And, no matter how excited I was to play this game, I was NOT about to pay $900.00 for a board game. But somehow, a brand new copy, still in its shrink wrap, popped up on ebay for just a little over its retail price. It was available for purchase immediately, so I snagged it before anyone else could even see it.

Yes, I’m aware that if there is another Kickstarter, later this year, the game will likely sell for much less than its retail price. However, being able to play the game now (as opposed to a year from now), in addition to having a 1st printing of the game (vs a reprint), makes this purchase seem more than worth it. To me, anyways.

So, I’ve painted the first set of figures, and I’ve taken some pictures. I tried to match the colors as best I could to the survivor artwork included in the rulebook. And I decided to make the White Lion, well… white! It still baffles me how a lot of other painters have decided to make their White Lion orange, or yellow, or… you get the idea.

I also got a group together to play. Turns out, with a game as good as this, it wasn’t even that hard to convince some friends to join–even with the 25 week commitment.

And, yes. The game is every bit as awesome as I’d thought it would be.
